Any larger, I feel there would be an increase in the nausea factor with FPS games. I didn't think I would notice much of a difference 34" -> 38" but it really is MUCH more immersive and to me this size really hits the sweet spot. peak 400 nits for the 34"), there are dimming zones which help with the contrast during black screens, and the increase in size makes it much more immersive. The panel is noticeably brighter (peak 600 nits per dell site vs. The 38" (aw3821dw) is superior in every way. I'm comparing to my prior monitor which was the 34" aw3420dw. I got one of these for $1900 (-10% email discount, but taxes added) the first week they were released. I might just wait till next year for some other manufacturer to make 38 inch displays, this price gouging is insane.
But there's nothing here worth paying another $400 for, and the 38" displays are already stupidly overpriced.
If they had priced this at the same point as the full price LG models ($1500) it would maybe be justifiable. Guessing this doesn't have the thunderbolt support of the WN95C either. They don't even list the refresh rate on this page although I assume it's similar to the 144hz. This is just throwing on G-Sync Ultimate on top of the existing LG screens and sticking an AW sticker on it. Other $2000 displays come with HDR1000 and are basically the highest quality displays available. $1900 for the same display with Alienware branding? At that price it should really have something to set it apart and I really don't see what that is. The $1200-1500 for the LG ultrawides (depending on sales etc) is already basically at the maximum that one can justify. I'm thinking about one of the LG models and was interested to see the specs/prices on this. They are all insane but this is really absurd.
